Inside P.S. 145 in Harlem
Originally built in 1901, Harlem's P.S. 145 hasn't seen a student since 1975. Languishing unused and neglected for nearly 40 years, the school was recently given landmark status by the City.
While this designation saves the building from total demolition, redevelopment plans are scheduled to see its historic features and almost tomb-like atmosphere transformed into 90 modern apartments and a brand new recreation center for the neighborhood's kids.
Luckily Abandoned NYC got inside before construction begins to document P.S. 145 in all its crumbling majesty. Take a look!
