Bethany Shorb: Supplemental Restraint System opens tomorrow!

Tomorrow, July 1, Detroit-based artist and all around cultural powerhouse Bethany Shorb, who you might remember from our own Detroit Lives, will open her new solo show entitled "Supplemental Restraint System" at Devotion in Williamsburg.

Using harvested elements of wrecked classic American and European sports cars, she has repurposed the panels, airbags, and other debris to create an exciting examination of car-culture and its various tributaries and estuaries in the collective popular consciousness. There is an imagined automotive crash narrative that runs throughout the pieces riffing on youth, protection, and fetishized preservation. It is worth a look.
